Sturdy glass bottles vs. High recovery V-vials

You can use a single toothpick each time you swipe on your skin. If that suits to you _ then high recovery v-vial is ok for you.

I personally use decant sample v-vials to swipe & carry oud with me. Most of the time I just uncap the bottles to inhale or sniff a little to recharge myself. :)
I have high recovery v-vial only with Kynam No 1 ... I think sturdy glass bottle is better for me because any time I want to have the pleasure of OUD without spending OUD _ I can do it by that.

@5MeO

Taha recommended a brand called winesaver for argon gas. Don't put too much though. Taha mentioned a guy he knows put too much and the container broke apart, losing oud in the process!

I'm with @Adam on this. Taha had a jar which had a very thin layer of Tan xiang no.1 (was there even any oil left?) , which was preserved with argon. The moment the cap was opened I got hit with a very strong sandal punch to the face! also with other similar bottles of other stuff.

In my honest opinion, I think argon works great in big storage vessel with a big air headspace such as the Duran bottle. In this way you can pump in enough argon to last a long time, assuming the bottle is kept upright. Furthermore, the Duran bottle itself is quite airtight and should be able to prevent any leakage.

For smaller bottle such as a sturdy glass bottle, it is not airtight and I am not sure if there will be any gaseous exchange overtime, though the density of the argon should mitigate that to a certain extent. For sure one has to be careful not to overturn the bottle too many times. As I am not able to monitor the amount of argon gas left in the bottle (if there is going to be any losses), I am abit concern leaving thing to chance.

I may have remembered wrongly but I always thought @Taha uses argon sealing primarily as an enhanced accelerating aging method to cure his freshly distilled oils. I think he mentioned before the small amount of Royal Chen Xiang in the Duran bottle (smell it myself while I was there) was just to illustrate the argon sealing property. Not sure if it is his intention to use it as a long term storage method.

It would be great to store the oils in Duran bottle with argon gas...provided I can afford large amount of oil to justify using the bottle! :D

Oh I am sure vintage oils such as Tigerwood 1995, Oud Royale 1985 or any of Ensar Olde Oud are not stored with argon? Perhaps @Ensar can comment on this. ;)

I'm interested to know if there are any that have kept oils long term if there has been any measurable loss of volume/weight over time.

I have 2 oils which are 8 and 9 years old. The 8 year old one is the beautiful Asaam Kinaam. I haven't noticed any loss in this product in volume/weight over this period. The only thing which is noticeable will be the greenish inside of the bottle due to most likely being the copper. The scent profile hasn't changed.
The 9 yr old one is the queen Borneo 3000. I think overtime maybe more volume got added to the bottle :) No loss of volume/weight on that one either. The scent is mesmerizing each time I whiff the bottle.

These 2 are the oldest ones I have.

I like sturdy glass bottles.
Because I can get tranquilizing whiffs from them most of the time without wearing or spending them.
With the cap open i presume? What happens to some of my oudhs sometimes is that, when I open up the cap to the bottle there is always some oil on top of the applicator. I mean how does it get there when the bottle is standing and all the oud oil is underneath? I make sure the applicator is on tight. Could it be that because, I keep it in my pocket at times and due to that moving some gets stuck?

A few times a sturdy glass bottle filled with oud fell to the floor from waist height. My heart felt like it skipped a beat, but the bottle was a-okay! For me, sturdy is the way to go.

This happens to me as well if I keep some with me during the day. I'd transfer a small portion in to a fresh 1gr sample vial, and keep it in the "watch pocket" in my jeans.
Sometimes when the bottle tips to the side, oil will get caught up in the underside of the cap, and then try and escape when I'd open the applicator again.
Over time, I learned the best solution for this was to never leave the house, and just spend more time at home with the bottles in an upright position.
It worked well until I noticed my vitamin d stores were completely depleted, and needed to make a choice between khusboo and becoming a vampire o_O

Would anyone have any extra sturdy 3 gram bottles for sale? After reading multiple posts and the recommendation by Sidi Ensar in one of his older posts, I would like to transfer the remaining Assam Kinam Oil I have in a sturdy bottle or in vial. Any help will be appreciated!

Did someone have an experience with the cristal bottle from Agar aura?
That's a good one, or that's better to take the standard one?
Always go for a thick glass bottle. Like the crystal bottles of agaraura. If it is precious oil or attar. A thick glass will ensure that light gets refracted and also the temp remains low. Many option is available online.

What would be the best way to decant Oud oils from sturdy bottles to small V vials for personal use or safe keep?

It will be helpful if the steps can be detailed out.

I guess it may depend on how small of a v-vial you are referring to. If it is a vey small size, I would probably use the applicator stick and do it drop by drop. May take a few minutes but safe and controlled. I have also transferred some 3ml sturdy bottles to 3 ml v-vials by just pouring them. There will be a little loss, although no different if you use up a full sturdy bottle over time.
