Yes, its very ironic. But they say God works in mysterious ways. And they also say, every cloud has a silver lining.
I know I would NEVER willingly have said yes to getting piping hot oil poured into my eye, so perhaps this is just how it was 'meant' to happen.
Now the question is - how do I replicate this for the other eye?!
Side note-
I'm known to have an iron will when it comes to distillation, and I even amaze myself sometimes (my wife of course thinks I'm crazy)! What I didn't share is that despite the screams of pain, and standing for what seemed like an eternity in the middle of the steaming contents of the pot which had upturned, I actually made myself a make-shift eye patch (Jack Sparrow woulda been proud) and with one functioning eye I re-loaded the pot and resumed that distillation then and there.
Whatever portion I lost, I lost, but the overall yield turned out to be quite high!
