Forum issues and resolution.

Let’s try this again, my earlier post asking and wanting to find out the same question was deleted and I expect this one to be deleted also.
This morning when I woke up I saw that my limited moderator status I had was stripped without giving any reason.
My question to the admin is what infraction did I commit to loose the moderator status?

We cannot have in-fighting between the moderators, where one moderator deletes an obscene post that is clearly in violation of forum policy, and another moderator orders him to undelete it because he is good friends with the poster. After @JohnH didn't comply, to spite him you went and deleted his own post: "This message by JohnH has been removed from public view. Deleted by kooolaid79, Yesterday at 7:38 PM."

Ahhh so one post was deleted by me and for that reason, I was stripped? Several of my posts have been deleted by JohnH and I didn’t see him loosing his status?
Again it’s not surprising anymore and you can do whatever you feel like doing.

It was also unintentional. Couldn’t undo the delete.

I deleted your thread where you asked why you lost moderator status and gave you the reason why. I really didn’t think it appropriate to discuss this matter on the public forum, more for your sake than mine but if that’s your wish then I’m happy to oblige.

I ended up having to delete several posts on the Let’s Talk Oud thread, some of yours included. The thread had got out of hand and quite a few posts including yours had to go as collateral damage as they wouldn’t have made any sense on their own, without the moderated (deleted) posts they were replying to. When I deleted those posts I notified everyone that I had done so, giving the reasons why.

The other day I deleted a post on the Back to Basics thread due to its content and then temporarily locked the thread. You sent me a PM which pretty much said I shouldn’t have done that and that you hoped I would undelete and unlock and I said I wouldn’t do that.

Then you deleted one of my posts on the Back to Basics thread, without even notifying me. You now say this this was unintentional but it’s quite a coincidence and it really is quite difficult to accidentally delete a post on here. If you had actually deleted my post unintentionally then why didn't you let me know about it? It was @Luigi who noticed the deleted post and removed your moderator status because of it.

We can continue this conversation here or privately, the choice is yours.

A thread for the discussion and resolution of specific issues that may arise elsewhere on the forum, which can then be moved here if needed.

Please note: This is a thread for occasional (hopefully) use by Gaharu staff, inbetween such times the thread will be locked.

Your moderator status has been shaky from the start. Where did you come from anyway? I never saw you contribute much here before anyway and one day Lo and behold you got a moderator status!

Oh lets not get into the discussion of the thread(s) you deleted, It was your thinking, the thread got out of hand and you decided to do what you think was right even though i disagreed. You gave a reason why you deleted them but seriously do you think anyone could object? You had the support of the Master. The other day again you had the itch in your hand to delete the posts and behold they were gone with the wind again. It was profanity as the reason you gave, yet other members said that but weren't kicked out.

I am not going to make this post long as I know, you will probably end up deleting it again.

I've been into oud for nearly two years and have bought and like oils from all the main vendors. I like to think that I've built up an ok reputation in those 2 years, I try to treat people as I like to be treated myself.

After posting on Ouddict for a while I was asked to be a moderator there, which I did for some time before I left. I got to like doing it after my time there, where I was a fair and impartial moderator and think I did a pretty good job.

When Gaharu reopened I signed up. As a member I reported a lot of posts that I thought needed some kind of moderation as there didn't seem to be much moderating happening. I guess because of this I was asked to be a moderator here and said I'd give it a go. Here I am, still being fair and impartial and I think still doing a job of it too.

I'm very sorry I don't contribute enough for your liking, just because I love oud it doesn't mean I also have to love making lots of posts about it on online discussion forums.

Yes, I’m guilty, I’m a moderator who actually does some moderating. The thread did get out of hand so I moderated Ensar and PEARL. Next thing I know you’ve sent @kesiro a text and he’s sending me a PM, followed by one from you where you said I’ve undermined your authority.

Luigi gave me support because I was right to do what I did, plain and simple.

Your role as moderator was not limited, it was the same as mine. But I can only recall you 'moderating' once when you were rude and abrupt to someone who posted in different size and colour font. That member hasn't never posted since.

When there was obvious moderating to do you didn’t do it. Like PEARL’s post where he was abusive to me both personally and as a moderator. Did you moderate it? No, of course not. In fact you LIKED it instead! It was another post of his that I deleted the other day, the one you protest about above. It's clear to see that PEARL is your friend and you just didn't like him being moderated.

You accused me of being emotional and one-sided but I'm really not, it seems you might be though.

You can make your replies as long as you like, they won’t be deleted. I’ll be looking forward to them.

A lot has happened on this forum over the last few weeks. In order to free up the threads that got locked as a result, I've moved all the controversies into two distinct threads: Oud Biz the Dark Side, and The Maggot Thread. If you want to re-read any of the drama that unfolded, you can find it there. I've cleaned up the Let's Talk Oud and Back to Basics threads, so the discussion can continue there.

As long as you keep patting yourself on the back and getting support from the ultimate authority, yes you are doing a good job!
How do we know you love it if you can’t express on a forum which you complained and are currently moderating?
Got out of hand said who? You? There were questions being asked and comments being made and you think, you did a good job by just closing it down and locking it?
Don’t use other people’s name if you don’t have concrete proof. Something that’s lacking nowadays no?
You said it! He’s the only one who gave you support. The rest of the people who know oud either stayed quiet including me and didn’t say anything but when they did, they were sacked!
Nope it wasn’t the same. You had the power to edit posts and I didn’t.
Good at least you noticed something! That shows you until you hadn't come there wasn't a lot of moderating needed!

Really? This is just ridiculous. Not only do you question who I am but now it seems that you are also questioning whether my love of oud is real based on how much I post?

Well, I don’t think that there’s anything else for me to say here and I get a feeling that this is now getting a bit personal, maybe it always has been.

Anyhow, I hope that you’re feeling a bit better now that you’ve got things off your chest and I think that it’s pretty clear to see why you’re no longer a moderator here, which was your original question.

I would have locked the thread after the above but I see there’s other stuff going on here now.

After a restless night I’ve decided that things have really become way too stressful for my liking and stress is my enemy.

I have serious health problems and stress makes things a lot worse so it is with regret that I announce my immediate resignation as a Gaharu moderator and will now retire from the oud scene.

@Luigi , my sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, truly.

I wish oud lovers here, there and everywhere all the best for the future. I hope that it brings happiness, good health, prosperity and peace.

And remember folks, don’t ever let anything spoil your enjoyment of the natural wonder that is oud.
