A double-shot today.
Kong Hak and Chen Xiang Khmer...
High-end Japanese incense resinous depth meets poor little Musk Deer that fell into the distillation pot.

Last night I took a small swipe of Hainan 05 before I slept. Let's say the sleep was very peaceful!
This morning I put on the beautiful Oud Mustafa5. The one that awoke my passsion again for the Oud world. Just beautiful! Will cherish this hopefully for a very long time!

RobertOne, lol!! I remember many times when Castrol GTX 10W-40 was my SOTD!! Thanks for bringing back those memories.

Today its Cambodi Caramel fro EO. Just have a sample of this but it is fabulous. The name would suggest it would be overly sweet, but it is not. A great unmistakable Cambodi oud.

Today I went with the mediocre Oud Ahmad by Ensar Oud! Sorry, I had to, lol! What a beautiful oil. In fact, this is my favorite oil to date with Purple Kinam a close second. Oud Ahmad embodies all of the Oud qualities that you could ever want. Woody, musk, sweet in a way, strong, and most importantly for me, lots of burning incense. This is the type of profile that frag heads always look for in a "winter" fragrance, but of course, one never truly finds something like this in a perfume.

No doubt my friend! Oud Ahmad is an epic oud. Just amazing in its scent profile. Now, given that the sense of smell, like taste, is individual and subjective, I certainly respect someone who just does not like it. Having said that, saying it is underwhelming or mediocre suggests to me that person has the scent equivalent of a 'tin ear'.

Had a wonderful day yesterday, meeting Adam (Feel Oud) and Taha together. The best part was of course getting a tour on FO's oils by the man himself!

One of the oils that surprised me the most was FO's Bio kyara. Adam is known for his deep, dark, old school intense style. Bio Kyara was one of the most beautiful Ouds I've ever tried ! It has a very unique top note. It's hard to relate to any similar oils in regards to this. I was doubting at first, did Adam really cook this oil?? I'm used to champi, mai bo rai, and the like.

then Taha said it smells almost identical to heated Japanese house incense! A cheat method for me, because if I have premium Japanese incense, I don't have the skill to burn it properly and would probably waste it.

Definitely an enlightening experience. Minimalistic, beautifully themed vietnam oil. Adam's words that it is aimed to capture the aroma of Japanese incense is accurate, and it's not implying an oil that was distilled from kyara/kinam.

I don't see it being sold on the website though.

My eyes just became a little greener due to all of the above.

I think @Adam has some left. maybe you can try asking for a clearance discount and take it all away. Aha. His Malinau "extreme" was very beautiful too. I thought extreme would be super punchy with a huge kick! Add to that his recent Royal Vietnam, I'd say in the same category with Ceylon No.1, Sutera Ungu. Minimalistic beauty. Taha said it has looots of similarities with his sold out Betonamu Jinkoh (which he only let me smell from the stick, never a swipe), which was sold out (literally) overnight, when he was sleeping.

Very very surprised to this other side of Adam's style which I never experienced before. and...he probably has more surprises for us this year :)

Adam does have some other more delicate oils, Koon Mai Wan is an incredibly lovely and delicate oil. Really nice Thai

And Ensar, fully agree. I'm loving some of the Thai oils. The ultra-fruity ones may scare some away, but Oud Yusuf is one of the most beautiful oils around. But there is so much more, Koon Mai Wan above. Jing Shen Lu. And then your two Sultan Thais which I find myself wearing a ton.

JK's Private Reserve Sandal today. Heated butter and beautiful light lemony wood notes aplenty! After about a month of wearing it it is becoming a favorite in my collection for sure! A little EO- Xiang Liao Ling on my shoulder for my almost daily need for a Maroke fix lol!

Today I'm sporting a swipe from my bottle of Maroke Madness. I concocted Maroke Madness 2 days ago, this is my formula:
1g Maroke Sultan
1g Pa Papua
.70g Maroke Muah
.15g Oud Royale No.5

Wanna hear something crazy. I just made a Vintage Sandalwood Oil Mega Mix. It contains 9 different vintage oils with some vintage santalol, but it's not yet done, I am waiting for 2 more vintage oils to arrive in the mail, just scored them yesterday. I don't know why, but these oils seem to gravitate to me. How else can I put together such a collection in less than 2 years. I estimate the ages to range from 40 to 100 years old.

@Oudamberlove wow Maroke Madness!!! Give me a day to quite my job and I will be at your place for a swipe! Marokes and sandalwood, you are speaking my language! Keep us posted on how they smell!

Stay fragrant my friend!

Maroke Madness did not turn out to be a synergistic blend. The opening was dominated by the ethereal nature of Pa Papua, after the aura subsided, the notes of the other oils were discernible in more or less balanced proportions, but there was a pronounced resin note which I believe came from Pa Papua. There was none of that "enticing herbal-meets-floral tone/note" that's in Xiang Liao Ling, which indeed is special, special enough for me to pull the trigger on a full bottle, when it goes on sale or when I save-up, which ever comes first:confused:
Not to mention that XLL is the closest oil to Sultan's Solace IMO:)
