Hey Taha, I can't say I am getting much if any similarities between the Afnan and Ahmet. Really different profiles despite some of the regional wood similarities.

Well, the DHL eagle has landed last night and dropped off the magnificent Sultan Afnan. Immediately it is apparent that this is an Oud of immense depth. To my nose, it is definitely slanted toward the base olfactory spectrum in such a delicious way, yet in no way does the base overpower the heart and top. There are so many notes than come through that it will take many wearings to sort them out. There is an surprising but unmistakable Brunei component, along with burning kinam notes reminiscent of Vietnamese oud. Throughout is a very smooth sweetness intermingled with bright oceanic notes. OMG, I just can't even believe this creation. This is on a level of mastery which clearly puts it at the top of Artisinal Oud. Just an amazing achievement.
Many congratulations on acquiring this beautiful Oudh! Any update on Sultan Salman?

Edit: you know you are getting too old or just too tired but I got the name of the oil wrong! The above is for Sultan Salman. What a dufus. Sorry for the confusion.

Today I am proudly wearing Twis: Island of Cyprus.

It has this piney, orangey balsamic loveliness going on a wonderfully balmy day like this is, here in the fringes of 'ol Pennsyltucky.

And in other news.... I am slowly emerging from the pile of financial poopy doody doo that I have been in for the past few months. This means that payment of certain reserved bottles will soon commence then I fully intend to go just a little bit nuts and buy one bottle here and there a la combat shotgun. FO OST is lovely but my tola bottle of it is half-empty and I really need some variety.

Edit:
Oh good, I see I missed Sultan Salman Rushdie. (contemplates stabbing himself in the gut with a spoon for a few hours....)

I have sorely missed posting reviews after discovering new Ouds and it will be a pleasure to do so once again.

Took a peek at this one this morning to see how it's aging, and loved it even more than the first time I tried it.
One drop, and it opened up beautifully, and is still carrying through 8 hours later.
This is my first walla patta oud and it's scent still mystifies me.
Hats off to our brothers who brought this back from their field trip for us.
Looking forward further Ceylon Series releases ;)

All day long: FO OST

Today the heat on the longest day really brought out the jungle and slight pretty funk of this one. I swiped four times today.

Sadly, my one and only tola bottle is certainly showing the tough love I have given it since I got it in the last months of the year in Oklahoma. It's 3/8ths full.

As we conclude the holy Quran in prayer tonight, I decided to go Hindi in remembrance of @PEARL and used the beautiful Assam Organic. The beautiful light barn, sweet tangy aroma, along with cinnamon notes is something intoxicating in such a beautiful way.
I had a similar decision - what to choose for the Night of Power? It came down to Mysore 1984 or Ceylon No. 1 for purification...and then I thought no, I am going to go to the primordial essence tonight, Assam Organic 07.

Sultan Salman is the Oud of the morning. I have several Sri Lankan ouds in my stash and they share a similar clean lightness. I do not mean they are light smelling, just more light and sunny in their profiles. The Salman starts off with almost a cotton candy sweet note taunting you to believe you are dealing with a typical Sri Lanka oud. That note starts to fade in a few minutes and then the oil begins to gain strength. More and more the oil develops a smooth spicey wood mixed with a blue green oceanic notes. With the sweetness on occasion toying with your brain.
This is incredible stuff and a profile which is so unique. Awesome!!

Thant sounds awesome Taherg!

This morning for my trip out of town it is Ceylon No. 1. Bright good mood sunshine Oud.
Wish I could have shipped you some of the hydrosol. Bottle it up in a spritzer, it would defo help with the heat wave you Californians are experiencing these days!
