    Bangles

As sandalwood is prone to oxidation, the oxidative layer formed can diminish the emitting of the fragrance. This layer will take a long time to form though and I am not sure of the effect of the sweat on the wood. I see my bangle more as an art piece rather than accessories. Hence the reason to...

    Bangles

Haha so do I! It is really quite ironical...to spend so much money and effort to acquire such beautiful bangles with awesome smell but yet kept them under tight storage in the dark to preserve them. [emoji23]

    Kyara

Among all the Japanese kyara, Baieido kyara was the most hard to come about, at least for me. Nowadays kyara is prohibited to be exported out of Japan and the only way of getting it is directly from the store itself. Yes there are, but far and few. This is what I gathered and learned from...

    Kyara

Personally I would suggest you hold on to the Baieido and Shoyeido kyara first to have another proper Mon Koh session before considering selling them. Kyara are getting rarer and even those offered by the venerable Japanese incense houses are getting poorer in quality and more expensive as well...

    Kyara

You are right in saying Mon Koh is the process of wood appreciation as per Japanese kodo culture, by listening to a sliver of high quality fragrance wood. Sora-daki on the other hand is more of a fumigation style by heating bigger chunk of normal quality wood for the purpose of scenting room...

    What's on your burner today?

I prefer lower heat (around 80-120 deg, depending on whether wood shaving or bigger cut) for my sandalwood session. I tend to get harsh or burnt wood smell at higher temperature than that.

    Shoyeido selected fragrance wood

Dropped by Shoyeido main branch and picked up the following amazing wood chip packs. The scent profile is given in each insert that comes with the pack. In addition, the wood has a great fragrance at room temperature. Bitter sweetness with a deep horizontal complexity. [emoji58] Easily my...

    Embark on incense making

Since I had gathered a decent amount of raw material, I decided to try my hands on incense making just for the fun of it! Royal Green Hojari resin and powdered (from ApothecarysGarden) Left to right: Myrrh powdered, Boswellia Carterii powdered (both from ApothecarysGarden), charcoal...

@Ensar If Kyara is considered a form of kyen, is there a seah equivalent type of Kyara?
