I am very new to Oud, and very curious about Oud.. I fall in love about Oud after visiting Saudi Arabia to perform hajj. I bought Hindi moattaq and Cambodia qadeem from there. And after that I start learning about Oud and day by day I am becoming more enthusiast about Oud. I regularly try to follow Ensar, Tags, feel Oud, sultan Oud to learn about Oud and saving money to collect some from them. Because I fall in love with their precious products by reading the description.

I have a question. In Sylhet region of Bangladesh, there are many Oud producers and many vendors. Does anyone here has any idea about Bangladesh Oud oil? Many people said that the quality is not good. Is it true?

Hello imran and welcome! There are many experienced Oud lovers as well as producers here.
As far as the quality of oil in Bangladesh, I am afraid there probably is no quick easy answer. I know from experience that PURITY is not easily guaranteed and many, if not most lower cost oils are of extremely questionably purity, and that is putting it nicely. I think I am at the point where I am much better at being able to tell whether an oil was blended with additives or not, but unless you buy from a reputable source, you are likely to get bad stuff. I am sure there are exceptions, but that has been my experience.

Congratulations on your oud journey! Saving up for oud is usually the new pattern in the lives of oudventurers.

Anyway, purity of oud oil is already a questionable topic in the industry...and even then, say you have 100% pure oud oil with no added adulterants or additives or thickeners etc, doesnt mean you'll get the good stuff.

Raw materials' quality..soaking..distillation techniques..all this will influence the quality and overall aroma. To simply say bangladesh oud is good or bad in general..one cant simply do that. Same goes for anywhere else

Quality and preferences are 2 sides of a coin. Oils distilled from different regions have different scent profile completely. Beside sourcing for reliable pure oil from reputable vendors, you would also need to try out oils from different regions to experience the full spectrum of the oud's aroma before narrowing down to your own preferences. :)

i look after a great oud with mint mentol smell deep complex i test green papua of ensar its great but very light i tested port moresby and mash allah is very great
any one can say me what i must buy for my collection i need your advice the conoisseur please

I will have to dig out my sample of royal Papuan. As far as mint menthol, Ensar's Borneo 50k has exactly that profile.
Post Moresby is absolutely one of my favorites. The Borneo 50k is definitely more minty. It has incredible sillage and strength. Cannot go wrong with it.

Royal Chen Xiang from Agar Aura is one of the finest oils I've ever smell - highly recommended if you can find it - a person over on ouddict.com is selling some I believe, in the Marketplace section. This oil is not particularly long-lasting, but is rather potent. In general though it is a more sublime and refined experience rather than a loud in-your-face type of thing.. I recommend that pretty much anyone who likes oud should buy RCX if they have the opportunity..

If you want some more Papuan or Borneo, try feel-oud.com - there are some delightful oils there from those regions - certainly Tawau Al-Awwal is fantastic, and a great price..

There are a couple Papuan oils for sale by Ensar as well - "Xiang Liao Ling" which is a Maroke oil - Maroke oils are very rare and you won't see many more for sale as the wood in the area is mostly gone.. He is also selling Sultan Sufyan which I am sure is fantastic.. I have not tried either of these oils myself but anything from Ensar will be excellent..

i bought the sultan sufyan its very finest and long lasting a son of port moresby you have any experience with xiang liao ling ?

Yoshi is fantastic! As far as the Hindi oil, are you looking for traditional or the newer non-barnyard type?

Welcome, Imran!

It looks like everyone in this thread gave you the best of advice, nothing more from me other than to advise you to order sample sets wherever possible. That will give you a massive, clear prism into the world of Oud so you can experience the full spectrum of it's beauty and see which ones you like best without having the agony of paying a lot of $$$ on guesswork.

Usually those are typical barnyard base. Some are too strong to sniff closely. Arab people like this kind of smoky oud very much because most of them don't even have any idea excluding barnyard or cambodi types.

I've some Sylhet oud in my collection. Tested different batches from different trees. I have now oud sylhet from a 25 years old tree. It's deep enough. I blended it with some Aku Akira of Ensar oud & finally the blend became a very strong loud sillaged barnyard type mysterious smoky oud which even stays all day long!

The problem is there are not any good distillers in Sylhet who are careful about the raw materials they put into grinders. Distillation process is not that good so far I know.

I think Ensar or Taha or Adam should go to Bangladesh to make a new history of Artisanal Sylhet Oud ... :)
