EnsarOud Oud Sultani 95; first wear/initial impression:

If you love the DNA core of Merauke oils,
If you want to get a glimpse of the oceanic vibe of PNG Sultan series with less seaweed,
If you feel that the smoky incense of OR5 was too harsh,
If you like the wet dark jungle of Malay Incense but the animalic spirit within was roaring too loud,
If you cherish the aged balsamic oud liquor type of oils like me…
Then this oil might serve you the best. This is OUD/OUDH in my dictionary.

In simple words, it’s similar to the epic Raja Laos 95 with almost identical non-fruity mildly syrupy sweetish (red?) incensy jungly opening with a puff of smoke, but they go apart in the heart-/basenote. Both with the same ancient vibe of OR85 (wet rocks and minerals inside mildly musty cave in rainy jungle); OS90 being more of old soul Marokean filaria in vibe while the RL95 being more of rustic Laotian Crassna in vibe.

I love them all…

Lubani from AA. Frankincense you would imagine was from Biblical times. Beautifully resinous and fragrant. Oud gently permeating through the dry down. This is an incredibly noble and elegant scent which is totally appropriate for company and crowds.

EO's Oud Royale 5 today. A full packed incensey Maroke oil. A truly manly Oudh, which doesn't disappoint at all. The heated agarwood chips aroma packed with earthy Maroke wood Oil makes it a perfect combo. Bravo Ensar for this beauty!!

Thanks for your thoughts! I have never tried any Ensar Ouds...
Sydnorill,

Sad that you have never tried any of EO. If you buy his bargain organic Oud (Adikuto X) and swipe I am willing to bet that you instantly fall in love.

Tell you what, order it and if it is not to your liking I will buy it from you at the price you paid for it and throw postage in too. Compound that with the fact that I have never tried so much as a drop of it. His Ouds are the scent equivalent of a Sure Thing.

Today: FO Hainan Arabi.

Robert is 100% on point. You really should try some of Ensar's oils. There is a very good reason they are what everyone compares their oils to. You absolutely, positively cannot go wrong with any of his offerings.
I have quite a number oils from various vendors, in various price classes, and I have never felt any of Ensar's oils were priced unfairly. You get what you pay for, plain and simple. Agar Aura's stuff as well.

Feel-Oud Maroke Noir, speedy impression:

Roasted coffee and cocoa beans-flavored smoked beef soaked in coriander juice and garnished with traces of bubble gum served over patchouli with pinch of pepper. Oops! drops of powerhouse leathery soapy fougere perfume accidentally fell down into the mix.

No prominent Merauke filaria scent signature here except traces in the heart/basenotes but probably one of the best smoky note in oud oil that I’ve ever tested. Dense, intense, and uncompromised. And I’m not even talking about the price!

AA Royal Papua on steroid…

After a long break from oud I returned to smell my oud box - what an experience, like smelling them for the first time. I'd advise everybody to try and oud fast from time to time as it really heightens the experience upon return.

I saved my first sniff for Suriranka Senkoh. Let's just say I'd be happy if that were my last sniff also.

By the way I loved the stories of New York and New Yorkers on this thread, and I have to say @RobertOne I really hope you're writing some books because if you aren't it would be a waste of some serious talent!

Shabby,

You silver-tongued rascal, now you genuinely went and made me blush.

To be honest though, Pearly 'Astaghfirullah, Baby*' Gates and Kesiro 'Secret Bronx Hoodlum On The Lamb All The Way To The West Coast' Kairopractica told far more colourful and amusing tales than mine for which I am grateful, thank you both.

If I can write about anything, dear chap, it's only going to be about Oud. I am old and jaded in many ways but it's really the only purely material pleasure that I would dare describe as spiritual and calls down Thalia & Polyhymnia so they can knock some of the dust out of my head.

Patek Phlilippe, Rolex and Breguet do not spark avarice in me, give me a functional and durable workhorse timepiece any day. A Ferrari or Rolls Royce would not quicken my heartbeat at all - they are just A to B devices to me with the exception of Tesla due to their miniscule running costs and keeping us safe qualities. Yachts are nice but I would not want to live in one all the time. Designer fashion labels? Pah! McMansions... think of all the utility costs not to mention the cleaning!

But Oud's majesty.... everyone drawn here understands me without any further words of explanation.

Now.... SOTD FO Hainan Arabi. Review very tardily in the usual place.

* To be pronounced as 'Hasta La Vista' in an Austrian-American twang

@RobertOne, @kesiro, I appreciate your thoughts and excellent testimonials. I've heard from enough people I trust at this point that his oils are worth it. As a matter of fact I never doubted it; I just haven't gotten around to trying them yet. Rather than make a quarter tola purchase outright, I plan to buy his sampler pack when I am a bit more financially prepared and enjoy them for a good while before I decide. Thank you :)
