Special Occasion Picks

So, I have been a longtime lurker on this forum (on basenotes as well), and very recently had a tough decision to make: what to wear on my wedding day. I've accumulated so much oud (wood, oils, oud based attars) over the past 5+ years on this obsessive scent journey that it would almost be sacreliguous to just go with a regular everyday mainstream scent.

After I could not pick just one scent, I picked a bunch to wear at the same time! Here is what I picked:

Top of Head: Ensar Oud Borneo Zen (wish I had more of this, down to my last 2 bottles)

Back of Head & Ears:Oriscent Oud Royale No I

Neck: Kyarazen Al-Ghaliyah (first batch)

Tuxedo Jacket & Vest: Fumigated with Kyarazen's gently heated Vietnamese Green Kyara

Shirt, Bow Tie, Pants: Fumigated with Ensar Oud's gently heated Brunei Kynam

Wrists: Agar Aura Vietnam Special K ("painted" onto a buaya bangle)

Body: Amouage Jubilation XXV Soap & Cologne (just a tiny bit), Shoyeido Tokusen Powder

Deodorant: Scent of Samadhi by Sensitive Planet

Pendant: Tony Bolton Agar Aromas Vietnamese super sinking nugget (I think it's basically all resin, its absolutely solid, need more info on it) surrounded by 14K Gold Clasp.

Results? I felt maybe I went a bit overboard, but after we said our "I Do's," my wife said I smelled absolutely incredible. Thanks to the vendors out there for making such incredible products available!

I am normally very conservative with wearing my oud/oud fragrances, but on that day I made the exception.

Anyone else have a scent they've worn/plan on wearing for a special day?

Maybe a little bit overboard but who am I to judge LOL.
For me special occasions usually mean Vietnamese oud. Certainly something with a strong Kinam character.

A bit overboard? I think I went a lot overboard, but then again, I don't think I was in my right mind that morning! I have become infatuated with Vietnamese oud the past couple years, but my heart still belongs to a good Maroke! :)

Thank you Sir! I felt like an oud machine that day! None of my guests passed out from oud overload that day, and my wife gave my picks a thumbs up, so all worked out :D

Merauke (filaria) is my desert island oud species and I wear use it at least 5 days a weeks so I am totally on board with you. The Vietnam is more like dressing up in a suit and tie. I do that quite rarely.

I brought my .3 sample of Purple Kinam to my wedding, all prepared to wear. That morning of the wedding, things quickly got so stressed out (for me), that I figured I can't be spacing out on my oud, instead of trying to remember what to do/say. It was also an outdoor wedding so most would not even notice it, except my wife and I. I also bought some awesome essential oil votive candles for all the tables, frankincense/bergamot, so the place smelled quite strongly of them. So I didn't wear anything. Maybe it was a mistake, I dunno. I try to second guess it, but at the time I needed to remember what I wanted to say. Try not to stress out, then everything should follow from there. Bonobo is playing the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in S.F. in a few months, an indoor venue, so that is my plan for Purple Kinam. It might seem anticlimactic to use it then compared to my wedding. Cheers.

Have not had the pleasure of trying PK but it is on my short list of ouds to try!

Ye gods.

Just..... I think, no. Er, nope.

Speechless at the sheer opulence of your scent choices, I think I would go down one of two roads for an Oud wedding, lavishness or solemnity.

Lavish: Purple Kinam, Sultan (Any), Royal Kinam

Solemn: Jing Sheng Lu, Assam Organic, Tigerwood '95

Dan S, you really started off your posts here with a nuke, I look forward to anything you have to say in the future.
