What's on your burner today?

I haven't had the pleasure of smelling Lamb's breath and it sounds like what I have been looking for! How long is the burn when placed on charcoal?

I've been burning Eritrean frankincense and iryan jaya chips together! Younight have you ever burned e two together at the same time? The scent lasts for days in fabric!
Assalamu Alaykum,
How is the scent of Eritean Frank? Also is Frankincense and Iryan Jaya chips (from Oudimentary I presume) your favorite incense blend so far?

thanks for replying guys. I will get some mermaid stuff and 'surf the scent wave'......I forgot I posted in this thread and only saw it today

Tonight "Ali´s Roadside Lozenges" hit the electric burner... sweet musk, aged oud, finest Mysore sandal, and a lot of other precious ingredients made this a wonderful three-hour experience!

Oudiferous, here´s the list of ingredients from the package:
Musk grains and tincture
Mysore Sandalwood oil, vintage 2002
Mysore Sandalwood powder
Tahitian Vanilla tincture 20%
Labdanum Crete
Spikenard
Orris Root
Ambergris and Ambergris tincture
Henna
Benzoin, Siam
Antique Clove oil
Saigon Cinnamon ticture
Cocoa powder 20-22% butter content
Agarwood Burma, vintage 1998
Green Hougary Frankincense

Since I do not have real musk tincture at my disposal, the only comparison is Ensar´s Borneo Zen (sample). I would say, it is real musk.

The overall scent profile is very sweet and musky, with notes of sandal and henna and the other ingredients. I do not get a strong oud note from it, however;
but it is a very good bakhoor. One lozenge (they are quite small) lasts for at least three hours, on a moderately high setting. The scent lingers on for about two days, or even longer, before it has faded completely.
The lozenges came in small jars with screw-lid, and they lay in a yellow-golden incense powder.
It is recommended that you put some of this powder on the burner, and then place the lozenge on the powder. The powder helps prevent scorching.

Enjoy!

Yes, if the ingredients say musk grains, then it is real musk. Sounds like a great and unique lozenge. Surprised someone even ventured to make something this authentic with such prized ingredients. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the advice on burning.

How do you guys burn in relationship to windows? I live in Hawaii, and all my windows are screen windows with adjustable louvers. I usually have to shut all the windows in my room or the smell just goes right out the window. Then it starts to feel a little hot...

@Tarik, if I am not mistaken, I believe they are the same. i think Mermaid sources her myrrh from Enfleurage Oman but I can't be sure. I think if you want small amounts then I'd go with Mermaid but if you want a kilo then I'd go with Enfleurage Oman.

What's the best way to burn oud chips, guys? Do you ever light the chip and blow out the flame a few times? Or is it superior to use the electric burner and get the most out of your chip?

Ensar Oud

I never light the chip and blow the flame out, although that's the so-called industry standard in the jungle areas, when buying wood from hunters. It makes a lot of smoke which you need to inhale along with the aromatic fumes, and it generally stinks as well as being not good for your health.

I have an electric burner my Sheikh gifted me when I first moved to Jordan, and I stick to using that exclusively. It doesn't have a gradation option and you can only use the maximum setting, but it does the job well, and as one of my wood hunters remarked, "That thing just doesn't want to break, does it?" :)

I see Mermaid is less expensive than enfleurage.
Otherwise what do you think of their chips oud (enfleurage), I want to buy chips not too expensive oudimentary ,enfleurage or ..... thank you

Enfleurage is quite reputable, so you can't go wrong. You can trust her products.

Latest burning revelation: Half stick of Holy Land + half stick of Minorien Aloeswood, burned simultaneously = heavenly. A good way to get the smell of Oud mixing with true musk.

I watched a movie the other day called, The Eagle. Its about Roman icon that went missing in battle and, the soldier sent to find out where it went. There was a great scene where the hero was preparing for battle and was scooping the inscence/smoke with his hands in a manner to scent himself and his gear.
