Dear friends and Oudh lovers,
We often hear and heard about the crime rate in South Africa but never experienced it with someone very close. That changed this morning when I got a call from my younger brother say our beloved teacher was shot and killed during a car jacking.
He just left the Masjid (Mosque) after having given the explanation and commentary of a few verses from the Holy Quran.
He happened to be going home and on the way a few thugs tried to car jack him and when he drove off, they started firing and the great Shaykh was hit multiple times.
Funeral and the burial was over in 6 hours after his passing. Over a 1000 people came for the funeral at 11:30 at night in the freezing cold winter of South Africa.
I had the good fortune to benefit from him when I lived in the Bay Area and spend nearly 6 months with him day/night.
He truly was a ocean of knowledge and especially in his manners. He was 63-64 years old. He was loved by everyone and no one had anything to say except they are deeply hurt and are very utterly shocked.
He has 100's if not thousands of students worldwide who benefitted from him and his knowledge.
I ask you, if you can please keep him in your prayers and thoughts. His name was Shaykh Mumtaz ul Haq Nazir.
