30 minutes after moving out of the apartment and heading into town I got a call from one very nice rental manager...

A package arrived from Malaysia for me to pick up tomorrow.

Looks like on my 1400 mile road trip I will be reviewing Adam's Ouds.

Maroke Madness did not turn out to be a synergistic blend. The opening was dominated by the ethereal nature of Pa Papua, after the aura subsided, the notes of the other oils were discernible in more or less balanced proportions, but there was a pronounced resin note which I believe came from Pa Papua. There was none of that "enticing herbal-meets-floral tone/note" that's in Xiang Liao Ling, which indeed is special, special enough for me to pull the trigger on a full bottle, when it goes on sale or when I save-up, which ever comes first:confused:
Not to mention that XLL is the closest oil to Sultan's Solace IMO:)
Today I'm sporting a swipe from my bottle of Maroke Madness. I concocted Maroke Madness 2 days ago, this is my formula:
1g Maroke Sultan
1g Pa Papua
.70g Maroke Muah
.15g Oud Royale No.5

Wanna hear something crazy. I just made a Vintage Sandalwood Oil Mega Mix. It contains 9 different vintage oils with some vintage santalol, but it's not yet done, I am waiting for 2 more vintage oils to arrive in the mail, just scored them yesterday. I don't know why, but these oils seem to gravitate to me. How else can I put together such a collection in less than 2 years. I estimate the ages to range from 40 to 100 years old.
Sounds delightfully fun! Keep us posted!

Today was Oud Ahmad and the recently arrived Archipelago this evening (see Archipelago thread). What a blessing to be able to experience such treasures.

Speaking of Feel Oud - tried his Tab-Bu Mi-Tang oil today - co distill of Thai malaccensis and Burmese crassna.. He describes it as all sorts of honey notes - and for me I also get a lot of woodiness and a variety of musk - reminds me somewhat of the "zero-barnyard Hindi" genre. Very enjoyable and well-balanced oud, surprised I have not seen any reviews of it online yet..

Oud Sulieman 3 for me today. Just love the opening Hindi notes of the Barn which is not harsh at all. When you got Oud Sulieman 3 on , you know you are wearing some authentic top notch Hindi oil.

Jing Shen Lu and Mission Cambodi Kinam (thanks to an amazing friend). MCK appears to be an early prototype Sultan and is spectacular. It reminds me a bit of Ensar's upcoming Thai Sultans, which are amazing. Jing Shen Lu does have some Sultanesque notes, as well as lovely citrusy kyen. I'm greatly enjoying these Thai oils.

I'm doing a side-by-side between Borneo 50K and the new Sheikh's Borneo: pure Tarakan 2012. I don't know what's happening but microcarpa is really growing on me lately.... I can smell the wood unheated and gently heated at different stages in both oils, and I'm just in a swoon! I realize there will be a day when there's NO MORE Malinau oils like these, just like there's no more Pusong (Laos) oils like the ones from 20 years ago to go around, and it really makes me view Borneos in a completely different light.

How is the Sheikh's Borneo compare to Borneo 4000? They are from the same region (Tarakan) I presume?

Same region and same wood, different distillation styles. I gave you a swipe of it the last time we met, right after showing you the Nha Trang LTD.... I recall you saying not to bring anything else with me when bringing oils like the Nha Trang.... You couldn't make heads or tails of it, and were thoroughly unimpressed.... Its a super oil though.

Today is Kinam Emerald (special thanks to my brother at arms bhanny). My take on this has changed quite a bit. So weird how some ouds do that. It still smells like a beached whale, lol, but I love it. So different than anything in my collection.
