AA Ayu

In different mood today.
So I took some heavy swipes on beard-neck & behind my ears.
Ayu is getting better & better through every wear ...
DELICIOUSLY SATISFYING ... only sorrow is why I didn't buy a gallon of it.
Ayu is a truly delicious oil. I can barely bring myself to open the bottle, it is so precious! I just take off the metal cap and smell the bottle with the swiper cap still in place. Borneo 50K gives me quite a bit of the same vibe, as does Taha’s Pilipinas No 1. Does anyone know what it is about these oils that makes them similar?

This morning I put on the Maroke 2004. This is the first time I got chance to try this oil properly. Straight off the bat, this oil is very potent in a very beautiful and non harsh way. A bit different from the other Maroke oil I have, the XXL. The XXL is more earthy and jungle like green smell while this Oud is more about pure Aquilaria filaria experience. I am getting hints of incense notes along with some type of rose which is not overpowering. Earty, incensey, and floral. Some might fight this aroma a bit too strong but to me this is a oil which you can truly experience nature at its finest.
Maroke 2004 was my first full bottle purchase. I’d ordered a sample set from Ensar. Also in that set were Chinese Exclusive and Oud Yunus. I couldn’t even imagine buying more than one Oud! Sigh! Little did I guess just how much all these smells in little bottles would end up costing. Not that I’m complaining about owning a bottle of M2004 mind you. But when I think about passing up CE, it makes me sad about lost opportunities.

SOTD is Taha’s Au Luong. This is a mix of pure sesquiterpenes. It’s the sesquipedalia of sesquiterpenes. A sesquicentennial celebration of sesquiterpenes! It’s so pure and so powerful that I’m actually having trouble with it. OTOH, Ayu did this to me at first, and Ayu is now among the most precious oils to me. So I’m going to keep working at it until I lay down the neural hardware necessary to observe it.

Anyone else have experience with this oil? How’d it work for you?

Ahh I hear you about the CE. I went to the extent of asking Ensar if he has any buried to see if he could dig that up for me. He said the China Sayang was on par with the CE if not better. The next thing I knew, I purchased the China Sayang. It took me way back to one of my first Ouds, the Royal Kinam. So my recommendation is if you don’t have the CS. Do yourself a favor and blindly buy that. It’s a no brainer when you want something of super and ultra rare Oud. I think once you get the CS, you will be able to let go of the thought of CE. Just my 2 cents. :D

Ahh the Au Luong. I think you nailed it on the sesquipedalia. The core of this oil is nothing short of a miracle. Taha was generous to share a sample of that with me and after putting on a very small bit, I put that sample away for something very special. It truly is a mind blowing Cambodian and being a Gen 3 Oil what more could you ask for?

Er, I believe China Sayang is sold out.

I suggest you email @Ensar immediately and find out if he has any left. He might be able to pull some strings for you. That's a maybe if you really and sincerely want it. :)

Sorry I just read the new blog post of @Ensar and he said China Sayang is completely sold out. Sorry for that news.
I would suggest you buy the next best one. Hainan 2005. You might want to get that ASAP as we don’t know when that one might disappear!

Tonight’s wear: None other than purple kinam!

Monster oil. 10 feet over ground 30 feet under ground. Massive opening but completely mature and rounded (no sharp high tones) of all things deep dark floral and baking spices. Sultanas and dried fruit. Iris violets abundant. Carries with it a great balance of notes that keep evolving. As insane as the opening is, the heart and base are even more impressive. Loooong indeed. Sure there are some relative scent resemblances with ayu and couple of IO Malay oils I have had, but none capture the grandeur and heft of this one. Honest. Straight up. As much as a meditative and medicinal aid as an unreal scent.

I think you nailed it. Au Luong is pure sesquiterpene overload. At first it was almost too much and I found its sister Camellia easier to approach. Now, man o man, it is something. It’s pristine purity is staggering.
